| | SUMMER HAN-ANTONIEVIC Manager, Auckland I have been working at Overland for the past 2 years. What can I say, Overland is truly the best company I’ve ever worked for. I came to New Zealand about 7 years ago for university; I then decided to stay here instead of returning home.
My first job was as a waitress in a small restaurant; I worked at the Auckland fish market as well as a fish cutter and also helped my friend out part time to look after her little fashion shop. Right since then I knew I belonged in retail. I started to look for a career in retail and set my eyes on Overland straight away, probably initially because I have a shoe fetish, love shoes and love to see people have nice shoes.
I started at the Overland Dress Smart Outlet store in full time sales. With all the excellent training and very helpful people at Support Office I became the top seller in the store! I then moved to the busiest store, Newmarket and kept rocking at sales. In about three months I was promoted to 3IC and that’s when I really realized I was on the right track to having a dream career with Overland. Shortly after that, I was asked to go back to the Outlet store as an Assistant Manager, since then I’ve progressed through several stores to develop my skills and learn more about the company. Before Christmas I was given the opportunity to further my skill EVEN more and I have been given my own store to manage!
Overland is a very transparent and straight forward company, everyone’s opinion is valued and appreciated. Innovation and ideas are found endlessly throughout the whole company, and you know you are important to the company. It’s kind of like a big family. The best part of course, is the incentives and endless prizes you get every day, every week and every quarter, I have won chocolate pretty much every week since I’ve been in the company as well as Assistant Managers Quarterly Prizes. Recently I won a trip for two to Las Vegas at our company Star League Awards Night, which will truly be a life time experience and is the biggest prize I have ever won. I love it!
Finally, thank you Overland for giving me the opportunities to grow and learn, and thank you for having me. I know I will continue to grow stronger in retail, getting closer to my goals. Overland is the only place for me! |

| | ANITA KIMPTON Marketing Coordinator
I knew by the end of 6th Form what I wanted to do was study Marketing so I left school and starting studying for my Bachelor of Business. I majored in Marketing and Management and throughout all my study was constantly working in Retail.
My love for shoes made me apply for a job at Overland. I started as a floater for Auckland, and within about 3 weeks, I was part-time at Botany. Our team was like a little family and I have the best memories of the days where we would have shared lunches and a real team spirit!
When I finished my degree I decided I wanted to work in the Marketing industry… I resigned from Overland and started working for an Advertising Agency. The biggest thing I noticed was the difference in Values and Culture. It only took me three months before I was begging to come back to Overland.
Upon returning, I was offered me the job of Assistant Manager in Manukau where we had a great team. We were without a Manager for a while but had a great time, we rocked and I was so pleased to be back!
Within about two months of being back a job came up in Support Office for an Office Assistant. I really wanted to try something new and try out the Support Office and saw this as a great opportunity. A few months into that job I became PA to our GM.
Its been over two years since I have been back and I still love coming to work everyday! The culture inspires innovation and change and I never know what is coming next! It is such a stimulating environment that encourages growth in everyone – I feel privileged to be a part of such a great workplace! |
| | | EMMA COGHLAN Assistant Manager, Whangarei
My first experience at Overland was actually as a customer and I was immediately wowed by the excellent service and friendly team. I then joined the team at Overland Whangarei and became part of the fun, enthusiastic group who today I call friends. As a mother of two young children I found that part time suited me perfectly and that I could give equally to my family life and work. I started off as a part timer and have gradually worked my way up to Assistant Manager which is a role I am thoroughly enjoying and I plan to take over the WORLD!!!!!!!!!! : ) With all the excellent training to help get myself into Star League I have won numerous prizes including vouchers, spa treatments, extra discounts and even a magazine subscription!!! I've also won free shoes which I have added to my now enormous collection! Working here has taught me to take care of my footwear which in turn helps make it easier to sell care products to customers! Recent events have now led me to become the Active Manager and with the help of my fabulous Regional I can take this opportunity to learn more about the company and how to run the store productively with maximum results! I love being part of the Overland team as I feel I get rewarded for my extra effort and its well worth my while to push myself and give it everything I've got! With my training I feel I can take Overland Whangarei to a whole new level and this is a challenge I will thrive on and will excel to the highest level! I look forward to a fantastic future with Overland!!! | | |
